  • NFPA has a new director for our Public Education Division, Kelly Ransdell! Kelly has been with NFPA for several years, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. Please see the NFPA News Release attached at the bottom of this email for more information.

 

  • It’s Home Fire Sprinkler Week, a great time to talk about residential sprinklers with your community. Follow this link to find more information, public education resources, social media cards with a different message for each day of the week, etc.:   https://homefiresprinkler.org/ .

 

 

  • NFPA is considering the development of a new standard called NFPA 800, Battery Safety Code. Anytime a new NFPA standard is proposed, the first step is to send it out for public comment, to determine if there is support for developing the new standard. Our existing standard NFPA 855, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems, will remain in place, and will remain focused on energy storage systems (ESS). The new NFPA 800 will be a new standard to address battery safety for all stakeholders.   • NFPA has launched a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Safety Campaign, to help raise awareness about EV fires and safe EV charging practices at home. Please the attached PDF press release document, which contains much more information and related web links.
